A 31-yr old, sustainable change maker, with a great and naïve sense of wonderment: ‘Why do we human beings live our lives in such a way we get ourselves and this planet into trouble? What makes that we can also come up with amazing solutions for complex problems’?
She is no professional cyclist: in fact, she never cycled more than 80 kilometers a day at the moment of writing. No sports hero: though her kickboxing and horse riding skills might come in handy at some point during the trip. And in general not very practical: she knows how to change light bulbs and glue things that break, but never fixed her own bike tire. She does know how to ask many different people – in at least 6 different languages – to fix her bicycle for her. Unfortunately, none of these languages are spoken in the countries that will be crossed.
A 35-yr old, professional creative that needed some guts to ask for a sabbatical, to do what he loves: enjoying sidewalk adventures and taking mental and photographic pictures. He enjoys the small things in the world around him. Loves the sight of the ravages of time, abstract shapes and composition, as well as the color, the direction and the quality of light.
Handy and risk-averse as he is, he does know a lot about bicycles, can fix old motorized vehicles and reads maps. And maybe more important, he’s not afraid of some serious physical exercise. What he doesn’t understand is why people don’t take care of things that could last almost forever and don’t try to fix things that are broken. In his own funny and often overdone way, he’s been fighting entropy all his life.
The two of them joined forces a while ago with the feeling they would make great (travel) partners. Up till now, they did not have enough time to put this to the test… They live apart together and their travel together record counts 7 days so far.
